Cream City Conservation founder on Wisconsin's environmental issues, DEI programs

August Ball's face broke out in a huge grin when asked what she would be doing on the evening of Aug. 2.

As CEO and founder of Cream City Conservation, she was going to join about 14 high school students and their parents in Escuela Verde for group's graduation ceremony.

The students had spent the summer rotating through local environmental organizations — getting paid, learning about new career options and working to conserve the local environment.

The program is intended to increase representation of people from marginalized communities in environmental organizations.
